But that’s what they said. I can’t be sure of how great a travel companion the Twelve South BookBook CaddySack would be until we review it, so let’s get going.

Is the BookBook CaddySack answer to all your organizational needs?

While Twelve South offers an array of Apple accessories, it is most renowned for its BookBook collection. It boasts products that look like a vintage leather book from the outside, complete with a spine, edge stitches, markings, etc. And the CaddySack is no different. And while there is no need to hide your MacBook accessories under a ‘book’ guise, it helps you make a statement. Imagine taking out a book from your bag and then unzipping it to reveal the accessories. But, can this book carry all that you need, or is it all just about good looks.

Design

I have been seeing and recommending the BookBook case for years now. So the CaddySack wasn’t a novelty for me. But to give credit where it is due, Twelve South has done a remarkable job with it.

The exterior

The leather is perfectly aged, stitches are quite neat, the gold print is faded at the right places, and even the engraving at the book’s edge and spine are reminiscent of a classic book. There’s just one thing missing, the book’s name. I wish Twelve South could customize these cases and let us pick a cult-classic name for our CaddySack. Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, or Great Expectations, which one will you pick?

The interior

Staying true to its luxe and vintage exterior, the Caddy Sack boasts a soft, B/W tweed lining that is accented reds, blacks, olive-colored leather, and beige (zipper outline)

Utility

The designers have given an equal amount of attention to CaddySack’s practical aspects. It boasts –

A mesh pocket for USBs, SIM cards, visiting cards, AirPods, or other such small objects. 3 elastic loops to secure cables, earphones, connectors, etc. 2 adjustable velcro bands to hold charging brick, AirPods, SSD/HDD, cables, etc. A small loop to hold a pen or stylus. (Note: It doesn’t accommodate Apple Pencil)

Overall, the space is quite adequately designed. It will help you organize most day-to-day knick-knacks you use with your MacBook. The soft lining and secure elastics will keep scratches and slips at bay. Notably, the total depth you get is equivalent to the book’s spine, i.e., around 1.6″. And while it zipped up even after overstuffing, the book’s form was totally crooked. So, you have just sufficient space, not too much and surely not too little.

Should you stack the Twelve South CaddySack?

The BookBook CaddySack wins some points in the looks department. The overall quality of the product, from the leather, interior fabric, and elastics, is quite great. However, it is definitely not minimal; it looks and feels bulky. Also, while it neatly and securely tucks the accessories under its hood, the storage space is the bare minimum. Perfect for those who travel with basic necessities, but not those who like to carry/own a lot of accessories. Although in Twelve South’s defense, it promises to be a dope kit for your MacBook essentials, and that it does quite effectively. I guess it’s safe to say that some might love it and some may not; as for me, I like it. Price:  $59.99
